About

I am a regular feature writer for University Affairs magazine, serving the university community across Canada, and a former news, feature and column writer for Post Media for more than 15 years. I was honoured with Gold at the Canadian Online Publishing Awards in 2017, following a Gold at the Canadian Business Media Awards in 2015 for my UA article, “How to teach math.” I have appeared on panels at education conferences and been a guest on radio and television current affairs shows, talking about my education coverage. My Canadian experience has been complemented by freelance reporting internationally for such publications as the Christian Science Monitor, covering stories on education, crime, politics and human rights from Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam, Burma, Israel, Syria and New Zealand.

I provide professional writing and editing services to a roster of clients. These have included AdvantAGE Ontario, the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, Research Canada, Foresters Financial, the Canadian Cancer Society and SickKids Foundation.

I hold an MA in journalism from Western University and am completing an MFA in creative nonfiction at the University of King’s College, Halifax. It’s been a special privilege to pass on my craft as an adjunct journalism instructor at Ryerson University and Centennial College.
